P2P: Challenging Extremism – Raise Your Words Campaign
The P2P: Challenging Extremism initiative provides an opportunity for students from the United States, Canada, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe to create an online community to counter violent extremism wherever it might exist. This is an important way to foster a sense of community between youth globally, and can help spread insights and lessons learned.
‘Raise Your Words’ is the title of the awareness campaign designed and implemented by faculty and students from the Mass Communication & Media Department at the Gulf University for Science & Technology, Kuwait.
Raise your words not voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder. – Rumi
The campaign’s main goal was to empower the silent majority, while emphasising solidarity with the victims, common causes, shared values, and raising awareness of the threats from violent extremism.
A combined information, education and participation campaign was designed an implemented during October and November 2015, using a broad range of digital tools (website, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter), as well as the organisation of events, conferences, class activities and publicity.
The project leaders were Ms. Antonia Jolic (Design Strategy) and Dr. Cristina Navarro Ruiz (Communications strategy).
